How to make Sea Moss Gel

To make sea moss gel, follow these steps:

  1. Clean the Sea Moss:

    • Rinse 1 cup of dried sea moss thoroughly under cool water to remove sand, salt, or debris.

    • Soak it in a bowl of cool water for 4-12 hours (or up to 24 hours) to rehydrate. Change the water 1-2 times during soaking to reduce the ocean smell.

  2. Blend the Sea Moss:

    • Drain the soaked sea moss and place it in a blender.

    • Add 1-2 cups of fresh, filtered water (use less water for a thicker gel or more for a thinner consistency).

    • Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Add more water if needed to achieve desired consistency.

  3. Store the Gel:

    • Pour the gel into a clean, airtight glass jar or container.

    • Refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours to set. It will thicken as it cools.

    • Store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks or freeze in portions for up to 2 months.

Tips

Tips:

  • Use spring or filtered water for best results.

  • Optionally, add a squeeze of lime or lemon juice during blending to reduce the sea moss taste.

  • Sea moss gel can be added to smoothies, teas, soups, or used as a thickener in recipes.

Always source high-quality, wildcrafted, or organic sea moss from a reputable supplier to ensure safety and purity.
